Builds Character....

That was a typical line we heard growing up when we had to do something we had no desire to do. So, after 30+ years of doing stuff I didn't want to do and 'building character', I have enough characters for years worth of sitcoms.
So, with that said, I'm trying to figure out why one of my SANE characters didn't tell us to stay home this morning........

This photo was between Big Beaver & Rochester Road on I-75 this morning as I was creeping along at 5 mph. This was about 1 hour and 30 minutes into my 3 hour and 30 minute commute this morning - maybe 15 miles from our house.
And this one was about 2 hours into my commute, about half way to work......
Well, it looks like the snow has subsided and hopefully the good ole' county trucks can get on the roads and clean them up a bit before afternoon 'rush' hour starts.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder which 'character' this mornings drive was building?!
Happy 1/2 Way to Friday!

A Purple Penguin

So I uploaded my photos from this weekend and here's my favorite Purple Penguin Toddler. Isn't he just adorable?
This was right before he went into his little kitchen to 'cook' me nachos.
So Aim - have his penguins found warmer places to live than out on the deck? I'll dig through a few of the Christmas boxes tonight and see if I can find them some 'inside snow'.
Happy Snow - I sure hope we don't get the 2-5" they're talking about tonight.
Is it summer yet?

Thrilled? I think not!

What do you think?

This was Gizmo after we took the Christmas tree down on Friday night, right before we had a chance to vaccum. I think in his 'Jaba' the Cat pose, he was boycotting the Act of De-Christmasing.

Tucker on the other hand, could have cared less, but there was NO way we were throwing out 'HER' shoe box yesterday. This is what you call '20 pounds of cat in a 2 pound shoe box'. Thanks Uncle Rick for the shoebox!

Happy Monday!

Wow, Sunday already!?

Why is it that that's how the weekends seem to go?! I was telling Glen today when we ran to the grocery store at 3 this afternoon, it seems like I didn't get anything done this weekend! When in all actuality, I got a ton done! We got all the Indoor Christmas decorations taken down, boxed up and put in the garage (with the exception of a few of the boxes that need to go up in the attic) Friday night. The outdoor decorations will probably be out there until July when the 2 1/2 feet of snow they're buried under finally melts. The house is put back together and I think we're both ready for spring.
Yesterday I had hairapy which was WAY over due. We launched my mom's website for the store. Then, yesterday afternoon I went to Amy's for the Taste of Home party she hosted. We had yummy treats & dips. Mmmmmmm. I've even begun my Christmas shopping (can you believe it, it's not even CLOSE to Christmas?!). I got to spend a little time with my favorite purple pants penguin carrying toddler too! It was nice to see Amy & Suz and always nice to spend time with Colin! Last night, Glen & I ended up doing a bit of Tiger Woods Golfing and went to the neighbors for a bit. We got home about 3 am this morning. Yikes!
Whew! Tonight we're going to unwind and get ready for another week.
Hope you all had a nice weeked - stay warm!

Photo of The Day....

I looked behind the couch this afternoon and this is what I found......(Yes, this is a fat cat sticking out his tongue)
He either didn't want his picture taken or was less than thrilled I had the day off and was home.
And while he wasn't entertained, it gave us both a chuckle!
What a goofy dude!

Sham -WHAT???

So, today we ventured outside - it actually didn't feel too bad with the sun out. We dug Glen's car out and took it to the dealership and dropped it off for some warranty work.
Here's where the Sham-WHAT comes in. For Christmas, I was the recepient of a Clapper - a NEW and IMPROVED Clapper. It was actually supposed to be a box of SHAMWOW cloths, but it must have been a gift that everyone was getting for Christmas because he wasn't able to find any.
So, on the way back from the dealership, we made a quick stop at the drug store to pick up a few things. I went to get bath soap and guess what Glen came back with?
Yep, you guess it, the SHAM-WOW! And, it was the LAST ONE!
We are now the proud owners of the ShamWOW! towels!
And they really do work (even though the guy in the commercial is kind of a tool)!
Grins!

Picture Not Included

I'm a firm believer that pets can make ANYTHING better! Ours are living proof that is a truth. After a crummy drive home, Gizmo and Tucker are always here ready to entertain. Tucker got off the kitchen table chair when Glen broke out the cat food and filled their bowls.
Gizmo is much more entertaining - he follows us upstairs so we can change out of work clothes and into comfy clothes. He has a habit of 'chasing' shadows. Tonight was no diferent. It's funny to watch him track and attack them. Not sure who is more entertained, Gizmo or Glen and I. I've tried to take photos before, but it turns out looking like some crazy cat staring at the wall.
Bundle up, stay warm and stay inside if you don't have to go out.

If you don't talk to your cat about catnip....Who will???

So the funny explanation of this photo - our kids are Catnip fiends (see previous post of cat licking window to get Catnip plant on other side here: http://thekayminkantina.blogspot.com/2008/08/just-another-typical-week-here.html
So, for Christmas, SANTA brought them a new scratching post, the inexpensive cardboard kind that provides hours of entertainment (not sure if it's entertainment for us, for them or both). The BEST part of this SANTA gift is that it comes with its own baggie of catnip. Hence the video of Tucker just dragging the box around until she could tip it over and ingest the catnip.
This was Gizmo got tired of trying to tip the box over and therefore just fell asleep on the box, partially tipped over with his nose sniffing the herb.......
Happy Monday!

Is it Summer yet?

Snow, Snow and MORE Snow.......Is it Summer yet???
While we didn't get nearly as much snow as either of our folks 10"+ (we only got 5"-6"), I think we've all had enough winter......

Yesterday, I had the chance to get together with Amy, Suz and Colin for our 'Christmas'. We enjoyed lunch at Olive Garden - YUMMO! Colin and I even shared a super yummy dessert.

Well, off to enjoy the day!
Happy Sunday!

Happy 2009!!!

We hope this finds everyone well and 'recovering' from the holidays! We are both back to work today, whew, did 6 am come early this morning!

Yesterday we enjoyed football (without swearing at the 0-16 Lions)!

I have to tell you, Friday night, Glen and I enjoyed the best filet I think we've ever had. We'd picked up a new steak rub over the holiday and it had the most amazing taste you could ever imagine! They were so good that we should have taken a photo of them, but the smell was just too much to keep us from eating them.

We're both looking forward to doing it again with the other two filet in the freezer. The twice baked potato was pretty darn good too! YUMM-O!!

We wish you all a prosperous, healthy & happy 2009!
